The Most Important Trait for Success
I just read a fascinating article in teh Boston Globe about the concept of "Grit" (The Truth About Grit). Grit is a psycholigical concept that refers to one's ability to persevere, set and stay focused on goals, and do whatever it takes to achieve a specific outcome.
Researchers have found that grit is more important that IQ when it comes to success. Of course, success is in the eye of the beholder. But it makes sense that those who can work consistently toward a goal will have more positive outcomes.
As you start and build your practice, you will need to tap into your own grit and work consistently toward your goals.
I'll be honest, while building a successful practice is not difficult and is within anyone's grasp, it does require consistent focus and effort. There are days when you will need to wear many hats, market your practice, see clients, attend to adminstartive details. It takes planning and thinking and prioritizing time and energy.
But, the article is right, it doesn't take a genius to multitask and stick with a plan. And the results are so worth the effort. You can develop the practice you have always dreamed of, work the schedule that is perfect for you, see the clients who you help the most, and make the income you want and deserve to make.
So, don't give up, stick with your goals, take deep breaths when the going (occassionally) gets tough. It will work out and success will be yours.
